Imperial Valley Candidate Raises $32k
(El CENTRO, CA) ---- Rick Gonzales, Democratic Candidate for
California’s 80th Assembly District, released his first fundraising
report this week.
“I’m honored to have received so much early support from more than 75
friends and family members,” said Gonzales. “This is a strong indicator
that people want a candidate with fresh ideas and knowledge of the local
issues. That’s why I have decided to run for the State Assembly,” said
Brawley-native Gonzales.
Gonzales was born and raised in the rural farming community located in
the heart of the Imperial Valley and attended Brawley’s local public
schools. He earned a Bachelors degree from San Diego State University in
Political Science and from there served the public in the nation’s
capital, Washington, D.C., by working in the Clinton-Gore Administration
and for Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard.
After earning a Masters in Business Administration from the University
of Southern California., Rick has returned to his hometown to give back
to his community. He currently works at Wells Fargo where his group is
responsible for making community development investments in affordable
housing, including in Imperial Valley.
California’s 80th Assembly District stretches from the Coachella Valley
to the Imperial County bordering neighboring Mexico. The 80th has one of
the highest Latino populations of any Assembly District in California
and has an 8% Democratic registration advantage.
